Droop Mountain Battlefield

This is the oldest state park in West Virginia. The 285 acre park includes Confederate earthwork and a small museum containing artifacts from the battle, a lookout tower, picnic area, hiking trails and children’s play areas. Located only six miles from your cabin.


Beartown State Park

107 acres of unique rock formations with a boardwalk to easily access the observation points. Located only nine miles from your cabin.


Cass Scenic Railroad

This railroad constitutes a very important part of Pocahontas County history. It takes you into one of the most remote, awesome areas in the country. The railroad runs below Bald Knob which is one of the highest points in West Virginia. The trains consist of cars converted from actual ones used for logging and are powered by some of the last Shay and Heisler type steam locomotives in the world. A MUST SEE! Located only thirty miles from your cabin.


Cranberry Glades

750 acres of botanical area and is the largest area of bogs in West Virginia. If flowers and plants are of interest to you, this is the place for you. A variety of rare plants common to the Appalachian setting grow in the northern tundra. A half mile of boardwalk (wheelchair accessible) allows for a leisurely stroll through the bogs. Located only seven miles from your cabin.


Snowshoe Mountain Resort

A year-round destination for mountains of fun! World class snow skiing, mountain biking, canoe rentals, kayaks, windsurfers, and paddle boats. Also hosts one of the top ten golf courses in the United States. Fun for the whole family and more. Greenbrier River Cabins is only 45 minutes away, so come enjoy the river and experience the mountain too! With the river you get more fun for the money! Falls of Hills Creek

3 falls that range from 20-65 feet, making it one of the highest falls in West Virginia. The walkway is paved and accessible to handicapped. Located only eleven miles from your cabin.


National Radio Astronomy Observatory

The largest fully steerable radio telescope in the world. The telescope features an innovative design with clear aperture, a collecting area of 2.3 acres and a computer controlled reflecting surface larger than two football fields. The NRAO is one of the leading centers for the growing science of radio astronomy in the United States. Located only twenty-seven miles from your cabin.
